Abdominal ultrasound full day course
Our one day abdominal ultrasound course is aimed at veterinary surgeons who are new or very inexperienced with ultrasound. The day will include lectures, demonstrations and practical hands on sessions using a range of scanners. The aim is to develop your abdominal imaging skills to an intermediate level.
Topics covered on the course will include:
- Basics of Ultrasound
- Scanner set up & terminology
- Abdominal Ultrasound, introductory level to Intermediate level
- Black & white Imaging
- Colour Doppler
Course objectives
To develop an understanding of ultrasound, the knowledge of when to use it and how to optimise your scanner to get the best results. You should have the confidence to perform a scan and make a diagnosis based on your interpretation of the the image.
Course tutor: Mark Overend BVMS GPCert(Cardio) AVP Small Animal Cardiology MRCVS.
Equipment: Probo Medical will provide all of the scanning equipment.

Cost: £495 plus VAT, £50 discount if you bring a friendly dog who is happy to be scanned. If an ultrasound scanner is purchased within 3 months of attending the course, the full course costs will be reimbursed to you.
Please be aware that as the course is ran at our main office, we have no dogs on site available to scan. Attendees are encouraged to bring a friendly dog along on the day. The course will be postponed if there are not enough dogs to take part in the session.
